MB ChB, MRCOG
I'm a Consultant Gynaecologist specialising in reproductive medicine and surgery. I have particular interests in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery and tubal microsurgery, including reversal of sterilisation. I also have special interests in endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and male factor infertility.
After graduating from Bristol University in 1988, I trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Bristol, Sheffield and London. I was senior IVF co-ordinator at the Hammersmith Hospital working with Professor Lord Robert Winston. Upon returning to Sheffield in 1997, I then worked as a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sheffield working with Professor Ian Cooke and Professor Bill Ledger.
In 2001 I was appointed Consultant Gynaecologist and Clinical Head of Assisted Conception and set up the Assisted Conception Unit (ACU) at the Jessop Wing. The unit has quickly established itself as one of the leading centres for reproductive medicine and surgery in the UK, treating both NHS and fee paying patients.
I have responsibilities for undergraduate and post graduate teaching and training in reproductive medicine. I am an accredited trainer for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and the British Fertility Society (BFS). I also supervise an active clinical research programme at the Jessop Wing. Current interests include mild ovarian stimulation regimes, implantation failure and studies of stress and infertility.
