"I enjoy the professional and kind support from staff, who give their best in caring for patients."
Virtual consultations:
I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist with particular expertise in cataract and corneal surgery, including toric and extended depth of focus intraocular lens use. I am the lead consultant for the Addenbrooke’s cataract service. I am also a surgical trainer for the East of England region and train corneal surgical fellows at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
A key feature of my practice is the time I aim to dedicate to each patient. I choose to offer longer ‘chair time’ for patients, with the intention of allowing careful listening, detailed assessment, and unhurried discussion of options. I believe this approach supports considered surgical planning, particularly for complex eyes, and helps patients take part in decisions with clarity and understanding.
I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2004 and the University of Oxford in 2007 in medicine. I completed comprehensive ophthalmology training in Nottingham, followed by advanced subspecialist fellowship training in corneal disease in Leicester, King’s College London, and the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital. I also undertook advanced cataract surgical training at the LV Prasad Eye Institute in India, learning techniques not routinely practised in the UK, alongside in-depth study of severe corneal infections and ocular surface disease.
I am a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the Bowman Cornea Club. I am fully registered and revalidated by the General Medical Council.
I have published on safety in cataract surgery, advanced cataract techniques, and ocular surface reconstruction, as well as novel findings in corneal disease. I have been nominated for the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Annual Awards and received a You Made a Difference award for patient care.
Please note, due to offering longer appointments than average, I have chosen not to be fee-assured with insurance companies. This means that your insurer may not fully cover my fees. I encourage patients to check directly with their insurer regarding the terms of their policy.
