I trained at St George's Hospital Medical school graduating in 1995. After house jobs I did basic surgical training in the West Midlands. From there I completed an MD in pelvic floor surgery at the University of Hull. My higher surgical training was undertaken in the North east and I was appointed as a consultant general and colorectal surgeon in 2009 at the University Hospital of North Durham. I have a large colonoscopy, IBD and colorectal cancer practice. My sub-specialist interest is in pelvic floor and laparoscopic surgery. Over 60% of all my major colorectal surgery is performed laparoscopically. I have a tertiary referral practice for the management of faecal incontinence (including neuromodulation), rectal prolapse and constipation.
