I am a Consultant Hand and Wrist Orthopaedic Surgeon at Spire Abergele Clinic and have been a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in hand surgery and general trauma at Glan Clwyd Hospital since 2017. Prior to this I worked on the Wirral and in Chester to develop my experience in hand and wrist surgery.
The conditions I treat most regularly include arthritis of the wrist and fingers, particularly at the base of the thumb, which may be managed with steroid injections or, where appropriate, joint replacement, excision, or fusion. I also treat Dupuytren’s disease, which causes thickening in the palm and progressive bending of the fingers, as well as trigger finger, where fingers can lock painfully during movement.
In addition, I manage peripheral nerve compression conditions such as carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome, which commonly cause numbness and tingling in the hands, especially at night, and I regularly carry out the removal of ganglions.
