BSc in Dietetics

"I enjoy working at Spire Wellesley as it allows direct access to nutritional care for patients needing supportive dietary advice."

Specialises in

I am a dietitian at Spire Wellesley Hospital and I support and advise patients with their diet related problems. I am also the PCN Dietitian for the Southend area, supporting local residence with their nutrition care. Prior to this, I was the lead Cancer Specialist Dietitian at Southend Hospital. I have worked with Southend Hospital for 14 years, supporting patients with medically related diet care including weight gain or loss, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, healthy eating, diabetes, coeliac disease, cancer care, diets for the elderly and frail, emphysema (COPD), and cardiac health. I also do group presentations and am a qualified chef, so I can plan menus offering targeted nutritional advice.

I offer specialist nutritional care for people who are struggling to maintain a healthy, balanced diet because of a nutrition related illness, or an illness that effects their nutrition. I am a qualified dietitian having trained at Plymouth University and am licensed to practice under the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and registered with the British Dietetic Association (BDA). I have performed numerous consultations with both in and outpatients, with different medical conditions and dietary concerns.

I am also working with the Wellesley Bariatric surgeons and their patients as they proceed towards and post Bariatric surgeries, ensuring that patients have the nutritional knowledge to embrace their new lifestyle and diet, with an understanding of how to successfully eat and lose weight post surgery.

The principal treatment I provide at Spire Wellesley Hospital is dietetics. I also provide dietary and nutritional support in the areas of bariatric care, cancer care, healthy eating advice for those overweight or underweight and for those with gastric related conditions.

Diet, nutrition and health all play a key role for me. My day-to-day is supporting patients with their nutritional concerns. My own cooking skills aid me to follow a healthy balanced diet, including treats. My yoga practice helps me unwind and lends balance to my life. I am an active listener and enjoy good conversation.
