Specialises in
I have been a Consultant orthopaedics Surgeon for the past 14 years specialising in hand and wrist surgery. I treat all conditions of the hand and wrist including arthritis, nerve entrapments, contractures and conditions caused by sports injuries and trauma.
I have a specialist interest in finger joint replacements and the management of arthritic conditions of the hand and hand and wrist trauma.
As well as my orthopaedic training, I also worked closely with Plastic surgeons to develop my understanding of the complex relationship between anatomy and function that makes treating conditions of the hand and wrist so unique.
Since taking up my consultant post I perform approximately 700 operations a year, all for conditions of the hand and wrist.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Edward Powell-Smith at Spire include:
Orthopaedics - hand and wrist
