MB BS, FRCS
I trained at Guy’s Hospital, The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, St George’s Hospital, and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, and went on to hold fellowships at the University of San Francisco, California, and Melbourne, Australia. In 1991, I was appointed consultant ENT surgeon at Frimley Park Hospital, retiring from there in 2021. After that, I continued at Spire Clare Park Hospital in a non-surgical practice, focusing on managing patients with vertigo (dizziness), tinnitus, and hearing loss, as well as childhood ear disorders.
During my 34 years as a consultant, I developed expertise in the surgical management of middle ear disease (eardrum perforations, cholesteatoma, and stapedectomy surgery). In 1999, I established a regional bone-anchored hearing aid service. I have been enthusiastically engaged in the training of junior surgeons at regional and national levels, having been the regional programme director and chairman of the national association of ENT programme directors committee. I was also a clinical tutor for Frimley Park Hospital.
I have a keen interest in aviation-related aspects of ENT. I am honorary senior lecturer in aviation otolaryngology at King’s College London and ENT advisor to the Civil Aviation Authority.
I have published many articles on a variety of ENT topics and have presented papers at both national and international levels. I am a contributing author to two textbooks on aviation ENT.
