Mr Colin Harris

Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon

MB FRCS

Specialises in

  • Hernia surgery
  • Haemorrhoids removal
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Colonoscopy
  • Gall bladder

I qualified from the University of Glasgow in 1991 and completed my surgical training within the Glasgow rotation before taking up a Registrar post in Manchester. I chose to focus on clinical surgery rather than undertaking a period of research, allowing me to develop broad expertise in both upper and lower gastrointestinal surgery. I was appointed as a Consultant General Surgeon in 2003 and have since further specialised in bariatric and hepatobiliary surgery.

I adopted minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery at an early stage in my career and have been actively involved in developing this approach across a range of surgical procedures. To further enhance my expertise, I undertook additional training in Europe and the United States with internationally recognised specialists in bariatric and hepatobiliary surgery.

I have a particular interest in the development of robotic surgery and currently perform robotic colorectal procedures as part of my clinical practice.

I am an active member of multidisciplinary teams in colorectal, upper gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and bariatric surgery, contributing to coordinated patient care and decision‑making.

My clinical work includes gastrointestinal surgery, laparoscopic procedures, hepatobiliary surgery, endocrine surgery, the management of inflammatory bowel disease and both upper and lower endoscopy.
