  • Heavy periods

I am a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the University Hospital of Wales Teaching Hospital with specialist interests in minimal access surgery, endometriosis and infertility. I am an accredited endometriosis surgeon with the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) and am responsible for establishing the first tertiary referral endometriosis centre in Wales. I have trained numerous consultants who have gone on to lead successful endometriosis services across the UK.

My surgical expertise includes excision of deep endometriosis, including involvement of the bowel, bladder, and diaphragm, nerve-sparing surgery to preserve pelvic function and reduce complications, use of enhanced laparoscopic imaging technologies for greater surgical precision, laparoscopic (keyhole) hysterectomies, often performed as day-case procedures, laparoscopic tubal surgery, including reversal of sterilisation, laparoscopic removal of ovarian cysts and fibroids.

I believe that great healthcare is built on trust, clear communication, and individualised care. I’m known for my down-to-earth, approachable style, and I always take the time to ensure my patients feel listened to, understood, and involved in every step of their care. If you're experiencing symptoms such as pelvic pain, heavy periods, or difficulties with fertility, I’m here to help guide you through your options and provide expert, evidence-based treatment tailored to your needs.

I currently serve as the Chief Investigator for a major multinational clinical trial focused on new endometriosis treatments and am the President Elect of the British Society for Gynaecological Imaging (BSGI).

Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

I was born in the South Wales valleys and graduated from the University of Wales, Cardiff in 1996. I have been trained in minimal access surgery in Cardiff, Surrey and Atlanta, Georgia. I am married and have two young daughters aged three and five years. Outside my family life I enjoy the ups and downs of Welsh rugby. At home I am addicted to my garden, but English literature and piano playing are also great pleasures for me. For my more energetic interests I enjoy cycling, rock climbing and target shooting. I am also a treasurer for a national charity.
