I am a Consultant Laparoscopic General and Colorectal Surgeon in Worcester and Solihull, appointed to Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust in 2014. I specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal conditions, offering advanced minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery to patients across Worcester and the wider Worcestershire region. My services include treatment for anal lesions, colonic and small bowel tumours, complex abdominal wall hernia repair (open and laparoscopic), fistulas, fistulotomy/seton, inflammatory bowel disease, laparoscopic and colorectal surgery, laser surgery for pilonidal/fistula/haemorrhoid disease, Rafaelo treatment, rectopexy/prolapse conditions, and skin lumps and bumps.
I qualified from St George’s Hospital Medical School, London in 2000 with honours and multiple undergraduate prizes. I completed my postgraduate surgical training in London, including two years of dedicated research at the University College London (UCL) Department of Surgery, where I was awarded a Master’s degree.
My specialist training culminated in a laparoscopic colorectal fellowship at St Mark’s Hospital, London – a world‑renowned centre for colorectal disease. Under the mentorship of Professor Robin Kennedy, I gained extensive experience managing complex colorectal pathology, including tertiary referrals from across the UK.
Since joining Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust, I have significantly expanded access to modern colorectal services locally, reducing the need for patients in Worcester to travel to neighbouring trusts.
Key developments include: introduction of day‑case laparoscopic surgery at the Redditch site, implementation of advanced coloproctology techniques, particularly Trans‑Anal Haemorrhoidal De‑Arterialisation (THD) for haemorrhoids, the establishment of a comprehensive pelvic floor service in Worcestershire, including: laparoscopic pelvic organ prolapse surgery, the management of faecal incontinence and the treatment of obstructive defaecatory disorders.
Prior to my appointment, many patients with these conditions were routinely referred outside the county. These services are now available locally in Worcester and Worcestershire, improving accessibility and continuity of care.
I maintain a strong commitment to academic surgery and clinical research and have published extensively in peer‑reviewed medical journals. My ongoing research interests focus on improving outcomes in colorectal and pelvic floor surgery, with a particular emphasis on minimally invasive techniques.
