I have extensive experience in treating foot problems, having qualified as a podiatrist in 1999. In 2014, I was appointed to the position of Consultant Podiatric Surgeon at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, now the Universities Hospital Birmingham (UHB) having been awarded a Fellowship in Podiatric Surgery in 2010 and Certificate of Completion in 2014.

I specialise in diagnosing and treating all types of foot pain and deformity and work closely with colleagues in radiology to aid accurate diagnosis. Treatment plans are then tailored to individual requirements including; conservative care via Perform (offering physiotherapy and podiatry), therapeutic injections and foot surgery. I am committed to continuing professional development and have regularly attended annual conferences hosted by the Directorate of Podiatric Surgery in the UK and the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons in the USA.

To date, I have performed a variety of surgical procedures including over 550 bunion corrections, 500 toe deformity corrections, 350 soft tissue procedures, 280 procedures to treat arthritic foot conditions (including fusions, joint replacements and decompressions) and a vast number of ingrowing toenail procedures.

In addition to my clinical caseload, I have enjoyed lecturing to Postgraduate Masters students on the podiatric surgery programme at Glasgow Caledonian University. In 2015, I achieved tutor status and mentor students during their training in the NHS.

My Health and Care Professions Council number is 14466.

Choosing a foot care specialist

Every doctor, nurse, physiotherapist or other health professional has specific skills and qualifications. They can only provide care that fits within those skills and rules set by their profession. For foot care specialists this means:

  • Podiatrists - They diagnose and treat problems with your feet and lower limbs (they are not medical doctors). They can provide advice, prescribe certain medications and carry out non-surgical treatments
  • Podiatric Consultants - These are highly experienced podiatrists (they are not medical doctors). They can manage complex foot and ankle conditions, using a range of non-surgical treatments
  • Consultant Podiatric Surgeons - They are podiatrists who have completed additional training (they are not medical doctors). They can manage complex foot and ankle conditions using a range of non-surgical treatments and perform some surgical procedures
