With nearly 20 years of clinical experience, I treat women with general gynaecological problems like menstrual disorders, ovarian cysts, menopause and management of teenagers with period problems, pelvic pain and contraception.

I am a substantive Consultant Gynaecologist and Urogynaecologist at Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. I specialise in management of female pelvic floor disorders which include conservative and surgical management of incontinence and prolapse, postnatal perineal issues, problems of perineum and vulva, recurrent urinary tract infection and bladder pain syndrome.

What I am most passionate about is working with women and restoring and improving their quality of life. It is an absolute joy and privilege to restore confidence in women suffering from potentially devastating symptoms that have far reaching effects on their well being, families and workplace. I always involve women in the medical decision making and individualise their care based on their goals and expectations.

I specialise in general gynaecology with specific interest in pelvic organ prolapse, overactive bladder, urge and stress incontinence, voiding dysfunction, painful bladder syndrome and recurrent urinary tract infection.

Having performed more than 1,000 procedures, I am proficient and able to offer treatments such as vaginal hysterectomy, pelvic floor repair, sacrospinous fixation of vault prolapse, diagnostic cystoscopy and Botox injection into bladder for overactive bladder, investigative procedures such as urodynamic tests, work up for stress urinary incontinence, urethral bulking procedure and surgical modalities like autologous fascial sling procedure for stress incontinence.

Furthermore, I offer diagnostic and therapeutic laparoscopic procedures such as ovarian cystectomy, removal bilateral tubes and ovaries, diagnostic and therapeutic hysteroscopic procedures like removal of polyp, hysteroscopic resection of fibroids, endometrial biopsy, insertion of intrauterine devices like Mirena. I offer a holistic approach when it comes to management of menstrual disorders in young teenage girls and women of the reproductive age group.

I always abide and follow clinical guidelines set by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, British Society of Urogynaecology and NICE guidelines and ensure women receive high quality care. I always discuss all women due for surgical treatment in the Urogynaecology multidisciplinary team meetings at Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS for the best individualised plan.

I am on the GMC Specialist Register for Obstetrics and Gynaecology. I attained my CCT in August 2022 from Yorkshire and the Humber Deanery. I have completed 3 ATSMs- Urogynaecology and Vaginal Surgery, Benign gynaecology Hysteroscopy and Advanced Labour Ward Practice. I am currently a substantive Consultant Obstetrician and Urogynaecologist at Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. I completed my training from tertiary hospital Birmingham Women's hospital and as a trainee rotated in the West Yorkshire Region.

My senior training year was at Bradford Royal Infirmary where I enhanced my skill in continence surgery as well as complex laparoscopic gynaecological surgery. Currently I run weekly general gynaecology and urogynaecology clinics. weekly pelvic floor MDTs. I have engaged with referral pathways to regional mesh centres. I perform outpatient cystoscopy, Botulinum toxin injection into bladder, bulking agent into sphincter. I am competent in performing pelvic floor surgery, vaginal and abdominal hysterectomies, vault procedures, sacrospinous fixation, laparoscopic ectopic pregnancy, complex laparoscopy procedures such as cystectomies, endometriosis surgery, Burch colposuspension and autologus fascial slings. In addition, perform joint procedure such as vNOTES, Burch colposuspension and sacrohysteropexies.

I am part of the on call team and cover the acute gynaecology on call whereby I look after acute cases, inpatient care and early pregnancy care. I was a NIHR research fellow at the University of Birmingham. I was awarded a PhD for my thesis by University of Birmingham. I completed a NIHR funded randomised controlled trial LOTUS trial. I have published several systematic reviews and articles in peer reviewed journals. I have presented my work at several national and international conferences such as BSUG, UKCS, ICS and IUGA.

I am an accredited Urogynaecologist and I am an active member of the British Society of Urogynaecology (BSUG) , International Urogynaecology Association and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

I conducted clinical research at the University of Birmingham with my PhD thesis on the benefits of local oestrogen hormone (HRT) on the pelvic floor. I provide a holistic approach and empower women to make informed decisions using evidence based care.

Professional leadership

I am a facilitator for the Basic Practical Skills course at RCOG London. I was the lead for Pelvic floor disorders and obstetric anal sphincter injury at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust for 2 years. I was the College Tutor for obstetrics and gynaecology trainees at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust from October 2022- September 2024.
