Professional profile

Dr Steve Hyer has been a consultant in general (internal) medicine, diabetes and endocrinology at St Helier Hospital since 1994.

His specialist interests are in all complications of diabetes, particularly the problem of diabetes in pregnancy, and also thyroid disease. He attends the weekly multi-disciplinary thyroid clinic at the Royal Marsden Hospital.

Undergraduate training: Dr Steve Hyer graduated in medicine from University College Hospital in London with MB BS (Hons).

Postgraduate training: His specialist training was at Hammersmith Hospital, where he obtained his MD (University of London, 1990) and St George's Hospital, London.

Since obtaining an MBA (Hons) at the University of Surrey in 1996, Dr Steve Hyer has held various management positions and is currently clinical director (Specialty Medicine) and director of research and development in the Trust. He also graduated with an MA (Bioethics) (Hons) in 2006 from the University of Surrey. He remains active in clinical research.
