Specialises in
I am a consultant cardiologist and senior lecturer, with over 17 years of experience in medicine. I manage the full spectrum of adult cardiology, including chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, dizziness, high blood pressure, and cholesterol disorders. My specialist expertise lies in heart valve disease, coronary artery disease, heart failure and cardiomyopathy. I have advanced skills in multimodality cardiac imaging, including echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) and cardiac MRI, which allow me to provide precise diagnoses and tailored management plans for complex cardiac conditions.
I hold full EACVI Level 3 accreditation in cardiac MRI and BSE accreditation in both transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography. Each year, I perform over 400 cardiac MRIs and 400 advanced echo/TOEs, ensuring accurate diagnoses and tailored management to achieve the best possible outcomes for my patients.
I earned my Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with First-Class Honours from Leicester Medical School, where I was awarded the prestigious John MacVicar Prize for outstanding academic performance. My early research, supported by a Health Foundation grant, focused on novel cardiac peptides in acute coronary syndromes and led to a distinction in my Intercalated BSc. I then completed a Master of Research with distinction, before securing the highly competitive British Heart Foundation Clinical Research Training Fellowship, which funded my PhD on ethnicity and lipoproteins in coronary artery disease. My work has been widely published in leading international peer-reviewed journals.
Teaching and mentorship are central to my practice. As the Undergraduate Lead for Cardiology Training at Leicester Medical School, I deliver regular lectures on valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, and heart failure, and support the training of future cardiologists. In 2020, I was honoured to receive the UHL Rising Star Educator Award.
Above all, I prioritise patient-centred care, I take time to listen carefully to my patients and involve them fully in decisions about their treatment. By combining the latest evidence-based practices with advanced imaging and clinical expertise, I strive to deliver the highest standard of personalised care for individuals with cardiovascular disease.
