I am a Consultant Respiratory Physician based in Norwich with a private practice at Spire Norwich Hospital. My NHS practice is at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. I am a specialist in General Respiratory Medicine and Sleep Medicine with over seven years of experience.
Areas of expertise within chest medicine and respiratory pathology include asthma, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), obstructive sleep apnoea, lung disease, sleep disorders, neuromuscular diseases related ventilatory failure including motor neurone disease and muscular dystrophy.
I trained in the East of England higher specialist training programme from 2008 until 2015 including Papworth Hospital in Cambridge with specialist training in sleep disorders and home ventilation. This period included three years of research which resulted in a doctoral thesis titled "Assessments of inflammation in airways disease" and an award of Doctor of Medicine, MD from University of East Anglia in 2015.
I have a vested interest in medical education and provide both undergraduate and post graduate training of doctors to prepare physicians of the future. I am an examiner for the MRCP clinical exam for Royal College of Physicians of London and am the lead of Respiratory Medicine education for Norwich Medical School. I am also one of the Training Programme Directors of Internal Medicine Training for Health Education East of England, overseeing early physician training for several hospitals in the region.
I am the current clinical lead for the sleep medicine and ventilatory support team at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals.
