MB ChB (Hons), MRCGP, DRCOG, DFFP
I qualified as a General Practitioner from the Leicester GP Training Scheme in 2000, having completed specialty training in emergency medicine, ophthalmology, paediatrics/neonatal medicine, general medicine, and obstetrics and gynaecology. During my medical training, I spent some time in the Australian outback working with the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
I have worked as a full-time General Practitioner and partner at Jubilee Medical Practice, for 22 years and I recently served as a salaried GP at The Uppingham Surgery. I played a key role in establishing the inaugural Spire GP Service in 2013 and have continued in this role ever since.
My long-standing involvement in medical education has been immensely rewarding, with many of my former trainees now holding medical and leadership positions within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. I am currently the clinical lead for the Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland (LLR) Training Hub's GP Fellowship Programme for newly qualified GPs, and I oversee our region's GP Mentorship Programme. Previously, I served as Lead for Medical Education for Leicestershire's Clinical Commissioning Group and later as the Clinical Lead for the Wellness and Clinical Governance Group at Spire Leicester Hospital.
Most recently, I enjoyed my role as a Medical Examiner for University Hospitals Leicester and in my spare time, I assist the Bone Cancer Research Trust as their GP Advisor and serve on their Independent Scientific Advisory Panel. Having experienced primary bone cancer as a young adult, this charity holds a special place in my heart.
I believe in providing a holistic approach to high-quality family medicine, and as a former cancer patient, I am uniquely positioned to understand medicine from both the practitioner and patient perspectives.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Phil Green at Spire include:
General practice
Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners
General Practitioner Principle/Partner, The Jubilee Medical Practice, Syston Health Centre.
Outside of work I am a keen spectator of most sports and watch the Leicester Tigers play as often as I can. I enjoy spending as much of my free time as possible with my wife and two daughters and trips to the theatre, cinema or rock and pop concerts are a regular weekend pastime. When time allows, I am a keen traveller and I also attend the gym regularly.
I am proud to be a member of the Teenage Cancer Trust and have spent a number of years offering counselling to young cancer sufferers, particularly those with bone cancers.
