I am a consultant cardiologist with over 20 years of experience in cardiology and internal medicine. I specialise in the assessment and treatment of heart disease, including coronary artery disease, cardiovascular prevention and heart failure. I have extensive experience working in high-volume NHS and international centres, as well as district hospitals, giving me a broad perspective across tertiary, district and rural cardiology. I focus on providing clear, holistic, patient-centred care, helping patients understand their condition and treatment options so they can be equal partners in achieving sustainable cardiovascular health.
I specialise in cardiology outpatient consultations, assessment of chest pain, breathlessness and palpitations, echocardiography, stress testing, coronary angiography and coronary angioplasty. I have a particular interest in coronary artery disease, heart failure and cardiovascular risk assessment. I also have a professional interest in sports cardiology and have contributed as a co-author to a sports cardiology handbook for cardiologists and physicians.
I have performed over 3,000 diagnostic coronary angiograms and more than 1,500 coronary angioplasty procedures. I also have extensive experience in transthoracic echocardiography, having reported around 10,000 echocardiograms. I have a growing professional interest in cardiac CT and am undertaking further training in this area.
Alongside my clinical work, I hold a substantive NHS consultant post and have experience in clinical leadership, service development and multidisciplinary team working. I am also involved in teaching and mentoring junior doctors.
My practice centres on delivering personalised cardiology care, ensuring patients feel listened to, supported and fully involved in their treatment.
