As a Consultant Gynaecologist for 17 years, of which 9 years have been at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, I am proud of contributing significantly to the sub-specialty of Adolescent Gynaecology.
I specialise in adolescent gynaeoclogy - both medical and surgical aspects. This covers laparoscopic procedures, hysteroscopies, treatment of minor endometriosis, ovarian cysts and removal and insertion of contraceptive devices.
To date I have performed over 1,000 laparoscopies, hysteroscopies, intrauterine device insertions and removals.
I am committed to the study, research, support and care of children and adolescents with disorders of the genital tract.
As a Consultant Gynaecologist, I have introduced several ‘firsts’ in the gynaecology department at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. I have started the adolescent clinics by stratifying it from paediatric clinics. I've started the first Gynaecology Endocrine clinic in Norfolk. I've established the adolescent and paediatric surgical service. I've introduced several new hormone medications to the department. I have attracted referrals from hospitals in the East of England region as far as 100 miles away.
I am the first doctor in the UK to achieve the fellowship in Adolescent Gynaecology – IFEPAG. The International Fellowship of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology (PAG) is an independent professional specialisation provided by The International Federation of PAG - FIGIJ.
I am the first doctor in the UK to pass this two-part examination and successfully join the establishment of IFEPAG, adding UK to the international PAG landscape in 2021. Since then, I have attracted several international candidates and senior clinicians for observership of our PAG unit in the UK.
I am an Executive committee member for the BritSPAG - which is the national organisation for Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology - PAG in the UK.
I am the UK representative representing the country in the Europe PAG executive committee. EURAPAG is the pan European organisation of PAG.
I am also a NICE committee member: As a member of the NICE Guideline development Group and co chair of the Obesity group, I contributed to the NICE guideline on Intrapartum care in women with existing medical conditions – published 2019.
