I’m a Consultant Rheumatologist with over 11 years of experience working in the North East. I specialise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of rheumatological conditions, including Inflammatory arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and reactive arthritis, connective tissue diseases like lupus and Sjögren's syndrome and Vasculitis and back pain related to axial spondyloarthritis.
I have extensive experience in managing non-inflammatory conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoarthritis, Raynaud's phenomenon, tendon issues and trigger finger, fibromyalgia and joint hypermobility spectrum disorders. Additionally, I also treat metabolic bone conditions including osteoporosis and Paget’s disease of the bone.
I received an academic scholarship to study medicine at Newcastle Medical School, graduating in 2009. I completed my foundation training at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, followed by core medical training at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London.
I then returned to the North East to complete my specialist training in Rheumatology. During this time, I spent two years at the Freeman Hospital’s tertiary rheumatology unit, gaining valuable experience managing complex connective tissue diseases and contributing to research.
I believe in taking a holistic and compassionate approach to care. I take the time to listen to each patient’s concerns, understanding that I’m not just treating a condition but supporting the whole person. My aim is always to find the most effective and personalised treatment plan.
To stay current with the latest advances in my field, I regularly attend national and international conferences, including the British Society for Rheumatology and EULAR meetings.

I enjoy spending my spare time with my 2 children 1 of whom is a very keen little footballer. I am an avid reader and gardener. Being originally from Mauritius and spending lots of time at the beach as a child, I enjoy spending time on the Northumberland coast and walking on the beach, keeping an eye out for interesting drift wood, sea glass or fossils. Volunteering is close to my heart and I am involved with a number of charities to support children around the world.
