Dr Ashley Reece

Dr Reece is a Consultant Paediatrician at Watford General Hospital. He has a special responsibility for the Children's Emergency Department and advocates an ambulatory philosophy aiming to treat children at home and out of hospital where practical. He is a General Paediatrician and has experience in many common conditions seen in children. He practises paediatrics with a child and family-centred approach and believes that children and young people should be involved in their care as much as possible.
Dr Reece qualified in Leeds in 1995 and started working with children immediately. Trained in and around Yorkshire, he moved to London for registrar training in 2000. He completed an MSc in clinical paediatrics in 2003 and was appointed as Clinical Lecturer at University College London. He has been a consultant at Watford General Hospital since 2005. Dr Reece has an interest in medical education, is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has received many distinguished teacher awards from University Medical Students including an Excellence in Medical Education Award from University College Hospital in 2009. He has also been published on aspects of clinical paediatrics and medical education. In 2008 he published an evidence-based review which received worldwide media attention. He has also published original research in Medical Education and Archives of Disease in Children journals.
