I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist with a specialist interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and endoscopy. I have worked across leading NHS trusts and now hold a substantive consultant post at the University Hospital of Wales. Over the course of my career, I have performed more than 1,500 endoscopic procedures, combining diagnostic and therapeutic expertise with a patient‑centred approach.
My clinical practice covers the full spectrum of gastroenterology, including IBD management and general gastroenterology care. I am JAG‑certified in diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, and level 2 polypectomy. I perform PEG tube insertions and advanced procedures for upper gastrointestinal bleeding, including haemostasis with clips, banding, Haemospray, and glue injection. I also contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions for IBD, ensuring patients benefit from coordinated. care.
To date, I have carried out over 1,500 endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopies, colonoscopies, and therapeutic interventions such as polypectomy and haemostasis. I have led quality improvement projects, including the introduction of critical flicker frequency (CFF) testing for cirrhosis patients and the development of sedation guidelines for breastfeeding mothers undergoing endoscopy. My research has been presented at international conferences and published in peer‑reviewed journals, reflecting my commitment to advancing gastroenterology practice.
Beyond clinical practice, I am actively involved in education and leadership. I am a JAG‑certified colonoscopy trainer, an IMPACT course instructor, and a PACES faculty member supporting MRCP examination preparation. I have completed advanced endoscopy training courses, including the Hopkins International Therapeutic Endoscopy Course and King’s Live Endoscopy Masterclass. I am a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology, the British Medical Association, and the Medical Protection Society, and I remain dedicated to improving patient care through teaching, research, and service development.
