Post travel consultant specialists
Consultant Specialist Dr Sharon Marlowe is running a specialist post-travel clinic for patients with infectious and tropical diseases. The clinic will see patients who have recently returned from a trip, either to an exotic or foreign destination, and are feeling unwell.
About our clinic
At the clinic, patients will be able to get advice and treatment for their symptoms, many of which are caused by complicated infections that often go undetected. Dr Marlowe can also provide advice and treatment for chronic infections that may not necessarily have been caused by travel, such as HIV, tuberculosis and viral hepatitis.
All tropical specimens are sent directly to the National Reference Laboratory at the Hospital of Tropical Diseases or to the Rare and Imported Pathogens Laboratory. This is important in diagnosis as local laboratories do not always have the expertise to make the correct diagnosis.
