Professional profile

I had a broad based training in neurosurgery at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London and have continued to provide a comprehensive service since being appointed as a a consultant at Frenchay Hospital in 1993.

I have pioneered the use of cervical disc replacements, which, by maintaining neck mobility should prevent accelerated degeneration of adjacent discs that may otherwise occur following a fusion.

I have developed new techniques in minimally invasive surgery of the lumbar and cervical spines that have been presented in peer review journals, in the internal press and on television.

Clinical Interests

Surgery for Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, Minimally invasive microsurgical techniques in cervical and lumbar spine, Cervical disc replacement, Deep brain stimulation and growth factor treatment for Parkinson's disease, Intracranial tumours.
