Mrs Rhoda Sutherland
I have worked as a hospital dietitian for many years. In particular I have focused on acute care nutrition, research in malnutrition and nutrition and cancer. I have specialised in weight loss surgery since 2002.
I work with Mr Van den Bossche, Mr Byrne and Mr Kelly, and run the pre-assessment and patient follow-up programmes in close liaison with the other members of the bariatric multidisciplinary team. My weight loss advice focuses on pre-operative dietary preparation and lifestyle changes after surgery to help patients achieve maximum benefit from surgery.
I trained in nutrition and dietetics in Aberdeen and am registered with the British Dietetic Association and Health Professions Council. I am a member of Dietitians in Obesity Management UK, British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society and the British Association of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.
I work closely with the gastroenterology team and provide advice on gastrointestinal disorders such as IBS, ulcerative colitis, Crohns and coeliac disease.
