Mrs Jo Pentland
Bsc Hons Physiotherapy
I am a Respiratory Specialist Physiotherapist and assess and treat a variety of respiratory related conditions. These include Bronchiectasis, COPD and Hyperventilation/Dysfunctional breathing patterns. Within these areas I will provide airway clearance techniques, breathlessness management and breathing retraining. Where appropriate this will include physical exercise. Another aspect of the respiratory care provided by myself is education and self-management in relation to the above respiratory conditions.
I graduated from Queen Margaret University in 1998. I started my career at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh as a junior physiotherapist where I completed my core rotations. Following these I realised my interest was within the respiratory/surgical speciality. At this point I gained a senior post at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where I rotated through critical care (both general and cardiothoracic), surgery, renal/transplant and respiratory medicine. At the end of 2001 I acquired my Clinical Specialist Post in Respiratory Medicine where I specialised in COPD, Bronchiectasis, Interstitial Lung Disease, Lung Cancer and step down respiratory patients from critical care. Within the NHS I was involved in a number of research projects in relation to Bronchiectasis and its management.
I work part-time across the NHS and private healthcare.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mrs Jo Pentland at Spire include:
In my spare time I am very motivated to keep myself fit and healthy, mainly with running, spin classes and a variety of high intensity interval training sessions.
