MBBS (Lond), FRCS (Orth)
I was appointed to North Bristol NHS Trust as a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in 1997. I developed my private practice from 1998 and founded the Sport and Orthopaedic Clinic based at the Spire Bristol Hospital with three other surgeons in 2000.
My specialist interest is in sports injury particularly relating to the foot/ankle (arthroscopic surgery, fusions, bunions/lesser toes and ligament/tendon problems) and knee (arthroscopy, cartilage and ligament problems). I also have extensive experience in lower limb joint replacement (hip, knee and ankle).
I am a member of the national societies for both knee and foot and ankle surgery being elected to the scientific committee for the latter since 2009. I have been involved with developing techniques in arthroscopic surgery around the foot and ankle and regularly deal with complex trauma in this area.
I lecture nationally and internationally on the management of complex foot and ankle surgery and contribute regularly to the medical literature through research in both foot/ankle and knee problems.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr William Harries at Spire include:
Orthopaedics
Orthopaedics - hip and knee
