Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Richard Coulthard at Spire include:
After graduating from Southampton University Medical School in 1997, I completed my basic surgical training in Bath. Following this, I spent 2 years as Research fellow studying urinary tract infection, for which I was awarded an M.Phil in Biosciences from Cardiff University. I proceeded to complete Higher Surgical training in Urology in the South West & South Wales and achieved fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2007, before taking up post as Consultant Urological Surgeon at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
I have a busy practice in general urology and urological cancer and am a member of the urological cancer and urinary stone multidisciplinary teams. I have a keen interest in training and teach on the on the BAUS laparoscopic skills course.
I have a particular interest in laparoscopic surgery & endourology. The Urological Foundation Award allowed me to travel to the University of Southern California to experience advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery, to help us further develop our endourology service here in Cardiff.
