Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Michael Jarrett at Spire include:
I am a Laparoscopic General and Colorectal Surgeon that has been working locally since becoming a consultant at Kingston Hospital in 2009. Prior to this I trained at Oxford and Cambridge University Medical Schools and carried out Laparoscopic Colorectal Fellowships in Colchester and Oxford and research at St Mark's Hospital, London. I particularly studied the use of innovative techniques to manage faecal incontinence and especially sacral nerve stimulation, upon which I have published widely and helped to write the NICE guidelines. I was awarded an MD at Oxford for this work and also the Arris and Gale Lectureship by the Royal College of Surgeons.
I perform up to 250 colonoscopies or flexible sigmoidoscopies per year. I have performed over 100 colorectal cancer resections in the last four years. I have performed over 1,000 hernia repairs and over 500 laparoscopic cholecystectomies.
I am a member of the National Joint Advisory Group on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (JAG). I have a special interest in the area of faecal incontinence, and am a national leader in the use of sacral nerve stimulation for faecal incontinence resistant to conservative measures.
