Professional profile

I was appointed as Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon in September 2002, working at Barnet Hospital and Edgware Community Hospital. As a consultant, I have expanded my colorectal practice to perform laparoscopic resections for colorectal cancer and introducing new haemorrhoid procedures. As clinical lead for endoscopy at Barnet, I have dedicated my time to improving the endoscopy service. My other main interest is hernia repairs under local anaesthesia. I also perform a paediatric list of hernia repairs at Barnet Hospital.

I am the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee at Spire Bushey Hospital.

I qualified from the Royal London Hospital in 1989 and spent my early training years in North East Thames Hospitals. My specialist training was in the South East including Guy's and Royal Sussex County Hospitals. I was appointed a clinical fellow in a Sydney teaching hospital, working particularly in the colorectal and trauma units.

Although my surgical workload provides a busy schedule I am also committed to training, teaching on MRCS courses and organising courses for students and junior doctors.

I have performed over 800 colorectal resections; elective mortality rate of 0.69%; No mortality in my patients in last 10 years for colorectal cancer resections. Anastomotic leak rate: 2.88% 400 HALO procedures for haemorrhoids; 85%-90% success and 90% satisfaction.
