Miss Philippa Jackson

Consultant Plastic Surgeon

MBBS MSc FRCS (Plast)

Specialises in

I am a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with a special interest in microsurgical breast reconstruction, aesthetic breast surgery and body contouring. I have been working in the field of Plastic Surgery since 2008 and became a consultant in the NHS in Bristol in 2018. I combine surgical expertise with a fierce commitment to truth-telling, ethical care and long-term wellbeing.

Breast reconstruction is my passion and I routinely perform complex microsurgical DIEP free flap surgery with an excellent success rate. I also undertake symmetrising surgery following reconstruction and nipple reconstruction using surgical techniques. My expertise readily lends itself to other forms of breast surgery designed to give women a sense of control and increased self confidence including breast reduction, breast uplift and breast augmentation.

I regularly undertake lipofilling and asymmetry correction, as well as breast implant removal and uplift, capsulectomy and management of implant rupture. I specialise in breast reconstruction and aesthetic procedures, but my work goes beyond skin-deep. It’s about helping women feel at home in their bodies again, after trauma, illness or change. I will be honest with you about risks, expectations and whether surgery is the right option at all. Because for me, surgery is not just a service. It’s a shared decision, and one I never take lightly.

I am trained in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery and completed a nationally competitive TIG fellowship which meant I worked with my Breast Surgery colleagues for a whole year learning about their approach to breast cancer and how it intergrates with our approach as plastic surgeons to reconstruction. I have performed more than 250 DIEP flap breast reconstructions as a consultant with a success rate over 99%. My plastic surgery training in the UK was extensive and included aesthetic surgery with a particular personal focus on breast surgery such as reduction and uplift. I started my private practice in 2021 and really enjoy the variety of cases I see as a result which includes managing breast implants. I have almost 20 years of experience removing skin lesions, both cancerous and benign, from cosmetically sensitive areas such as the face and ears and simple fatty lumps.

I have been awarded a National Clinical Impact Award for my work in the field of sexual misconduct in surgery and contribution to Breast and Plastic Surgery services beyond my NHS role. I convene the South West OncoPlastic breast Surgery meeting each year with colleagues across the South West promoting education, improved communication and team work, and shared learning. I am the Clinical Lead for the Elective Theatres at North Bristol NHS Trust.
