Dr Lawes studied at the University of Birmingham graduating in 1996. His initial post graduate training was in the Midlands until he had the opportunity to work in New Zealand. This first sparked his interest in haemto-oncology and general haematology. On return to the UK he completed post graduate exams before entering the haematology higher specialist training scheme of the West Midlands. Dr Lawes completed training in 2007 and took up his first consultant role at the Norfolk and Norwich having finally moved from the Midlands!
His role at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital has centred around haemato-oncology, in particular acute leukaemias, myeloproliferative disorders and stem cell transplantation, although he takes an interest in general haematology also. Dr Lawes recently became post graduate tutor for the Royal College of Pathologists for the NNUH and JPUH.

With a keen interest in sea fishing Dr Lawes feels blessed to live in Norfolk and is always looking forward to that next whopper! He particularly enjoys beach fishing for bass. Dr Lawes is a student of Taekwondo and plays chess for the North Norfolk Chess Club.Back to top
