Dr Leon Creaney

I am a physician who specialises in sport and exercise medicine (SEM) with a subspecialty interest in musculoskeletal medicine. I have a particular interest in lower back pain, sports injuries and performance medicine.

For the last 10 years I have been treating 2,000 private patients per year with musculoskeletal pain and injuries from head to toe (neck, shoulder, back, hip and groin, thigh, knee, leg, foot and ankle).

I qualified from the University of Sheffield in 2001 and became a consultant on the GMC specialist register in 2009. I have held NHS consultant posts in Sheffield, Manchester, Warrington and University Hospital Birmingham.

Since qualifying as a consultant 12 years ago, I have worked in elite sport for British Athletics as a team doctor every year and have also developed an interest in football medicine, having run a football medicine clinic at Spire Manchester and St George’s Park where I took the role of clinical governance lead. I have previously worked for Shrewsbury Town FC and am currently the team doctor for LFC Women.
