I have worked in the field of gynaecology for over two decades. I graduated from Calcutta, India and acquired extensive experience in general gynaecology during my research leading to Diploma and MD in gynaecology. My specialist training in the UK was in the Wessex and West Midlands regions. I specialise in advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries in gynaecology. I worked as a clinical research fellow in Minimal Access Surgery leading to accreditation in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries. I have my Diploma in Operative Gynaecological Endoscopy from CICE, University of Auvergne, France.
I offer a wide range of general gynaecology services like management of menstrual disorders, post-menopausal bleeding, fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, prolapse, chronic pelvic pain, advanced laparoscopic surgery, advanced hysteroscopic surgery, ambulatory gynaecology and rapid access screening for suspected gynaecological cancers. I offer abdominal and vaginal hysterectomies, operations to remove fibroids (myomectomy) and ovarian cysts, vaginal operations to correct prolapse, perineal refashioning and labial reduction, endometrial ablation and removal of endometrial polyps. I offer laparoscopic diagnosis and treatment of chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis and ovarian cysts. I specialise in various aspects of advanced hysteroscopic procedures to investigate and treat various aspects of menstrual disorders.
I offer laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis and ovarian cysts and I am expanding the scope to include laparoscopic hysterectomy. I specialise in various aspects of hysteroscopic diagnostic and surgical procedures which include endometrial ablation and removal of endometrial polyps.
I am passionate about Ambulatory Gynaecology which involves performing minor surgical procedures and hysteroscopic procedures in the outpatient setting without the need of general anaesthesia. I have been pivotal in establishing this new service in my NHS Practice.
I am a Consultant in Gynaecology and Obstetrics in a busy NHS hospital in the UK. I am the lead for audit in my department. My other key NHS responsibilities are being the Clinical Lead for highly specialised Multiple Pregnancy Service and Perinatal Mental Health Service.
In addition, medical education is an area I feel deeply passionate about. I am an honorary senior clinical lecturer of the University of Birmingham.
My clinical and research interest areas are menstrual disorders, fibroid, endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, minimal access surgery in gynaecology and ambulatory gynaecology. I have a special interest in the management of fibroids and offer both surgical and non-surgical management of fibroid to suit individual patient’s circumstances.
