Virtual consultations:
I am a Consultant Dermatologist at Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood specialising in the treatment of pigmented lesions, phototherapy and skin cancer in adults and children. I am currently not seeing patients with acne.
I have had extensive Teledermatology experience for 20 years and this was invaluable during the pandemic and I now conduct about a third of my practice remotely. This will remain in place after restrictions are lifted.
My special interest is dermoscopy. I was an early adopter of dermoscopy which has now become an essential tool in the diagnosis and management of lesions.
Diagnosis and management of common skin conditions remain the most satisfying aspects in my practice. I carry out minor skin procedures such as excisions, cryotherapy and biopsies.
I started my medical training in Malta but political trouble forced me to finish my training at Guy's Hospital in London. Subsequent posts in London were in general medicine, leading MRCP and, in 2000, I became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. I trained in dermatology at St John's Hospital for Diseases of the Skin in London, gaining wide experience in photobiology and phototherapy. I previously have held a post as a Consultant for Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust since 1995.

I run a parallel life as a photographer specialising in architectural photography and fine art. I enjoy working with artists in designing their catalogues and books, curating shows and carrying out the photography of their work for publication.
I have conducted seminars on photographic and computer imaging techniques, and hold a patent for a colour software program. My pet subject is the interaction of sound and still images. I play the treble recorder and tennis all year round.
