Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Ash Soliman at Spire include:
I qualified in 1982 and trained in Gastroenterology in Birmingham and Sheffield. I been working as a Consultant in Gastroenterology since 1999. I manage patients with all gastrointestinal and liver problems including dyspepsia, acid reflux diseases, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, bowel cancer and abnormal liver function. I have a special interest in bowel diseases and chronic diarrhoea and am accredited as one of the clinicians who do national bowel cancer screening. I also provide full therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy service including removal of large complex polyps and endoscopic mucosal resection. Audit of my endoscopy practice, regular confirms that ny performance outcomes are to the highest standard including caecum intubation of excess of 95% and adenoma detection of over 40%.
I served as the Royal College of Physician’s Regional advisor on service quality for seven years and as the Yorkshire and Humber representative on the Clinical Service and Standards Committee of the British Society of Gastroenterology. During my tenure for the Royal College of London I reviewed and supported several consultant posts and ran the regional medicine update program for senior clinicians.
I have a great passion for medical education and holds a Masters Degree in Medical Educations from Sheffield University. Furthermore I am an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer and a Faculty on the regional colonoscopy training courses.
Clinical research occupies an important aspect of my practice. I am the local principal investigator for several research studies. One of these projects is called the ASPECT. This is the 7th largest gastrointestinal randomised controlled trial of all time and is the largest Barrett’s trial in the world. Results were published in the Lancet Journal in 2018.
My philosophy of practice is centred on putting his patient first, giving full and simple information to help with decision-making. I also believe in close collaboration with colleagues in general practice to ensure effective interface between primary and secondary care. The development of joint protocols, care-pathways, educational programmes and audit are embedded into my practice.
