Over the last 20 years, I have established a reputation as one of the leading ophthalmic surgeons in the UK. I have been conducting my private practice at the Spire Wellesley Hospital since 1996 and until recently was a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Clinical Director at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
I have considerable expertise and experience in a variety of other refractive procedures including lens replacement surgery, with a range of multifocal lens implants. I am therefore able to provide safe and effective refractive solutions for all, including age-related eye conditions such as presbyopia and cataract.
I was one of the first surgeons in the UK to investigate and use multifocal implants for use in cataract and refractive lens surgery and am one of the most widely experienced refractive surgeons in the UK.
I first carried out laser vision correction in 1993 and regularly update my skills to keep abreast with the latest in refractive technology. I have also designed and helped to develop some of the instruments now used in refractive surgery.
I was inspired to further develop my interest in cataract and refractive surgery after completing fellowships at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and the Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia. Here I worked with some of the most respected and experienced surgeons across the globe, learning and developing techniques that are truly leading edge.
I now teach these newfound techniques to ophthalmologists from the UK and other parts of Europe where my skills as a trainer in the field of refractive cataract surgery are in much demand.
I was a Medical Director at BMI Southend Private Hospital and LaserSight Essex and I now devote my time to my private practice.
