I was appointed as an NHS consultant in 2011 and commenced my private practice at the Spire Hospital Edinburgh in 2014. I am one of the few doctors in the UK to have completed voluntary Cosmetic Certification in all areas with the Royal College of Surgeons.
I grew up in Edinburgh and was educated at Fettes College. I completed my medical degree at Cambridge University and also obtained a BA honours degree in Medical Ethics, Psychology and the History of Medicine.
My specialist plastic surgery training was undertaken in Scotland, and I spent a year on a fellowship in Australia at the world-renowned Royal Adelaide Hospital. I gained extensive experience in microsurgery and reconstruction of complex facial/head and neck conditions as well as general plastic surgery and aesthetic surgery.
I completed a cosmetic surgery fellowship in Edinburgh with my father Awf Quaba and have worked closely with him ever since, gaining invaluable experience on the subtler points of cosmetic plastic surgery. I have particular interests in cosmetic breast surgery including gynaecomastia, facial plastic surgery and labiaplasty. My NHS work covers head and neck skin cancer and perineal reconstruction.
I am keen on training and am the lead faculty member for the facial aesthetic cadaver course held in Dundee. I am involved in the setting of the written plastic surgery exam for trainees nearing the end of their training and am a reviewer for the Journal of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. Many of my own publications have been widely cited.
