Mr Hide Yamamoto
Consultant Urological Surgeon
MB BChir, MA(Cantab), FRCS(Urol), PhD
I am a consultant urological surgeon at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospital NHS Trust. My practice encompasses all areas of general urology with specific interests in robotic cancer surgery, MRI-guided transperineal prostate biopsy, bladder cancer surgery, and holmium laser prostate surgery.
I am one of the lead robotic surgeons in the Trust and a pioneer in transperineal biopsy of the prostate performed under local anaesthetic.
I trained at Cambridge University graduating in 2002. I have provided continuous care in the NHS except during my PhD in prostate cancer at UCL funded by a British Urological Foundation scholarship.
My postgraduate urological training took place within the South Thames Rotation which included Guy’s Hospital, The Royal Marsden Hospital, and King’s College London Hospital. During this time I undertook training in all areas of general urology with subspecialty training in uro-oncology, andrology, stone surgery, and transplant urology.
I also held a joint position during clinical training as an Academic Clinical Lecturer at KCL and led novel several translational research projects in prostate and bladder cancer.
I am the current lead for the urgent referral pathways for prostate and bladder cancer in the Trust and also the lead for education in the department.
