I have worked at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust since 2009 and hold the position of Advanced Dietetic Practitioner in obesity. I have an interest in the management and etiology of obesity and its associated co-morbidities, especially diabetes. I have a keen interest in bariatric surgery and the support required before and after surgery to make it successful. I have had extensive training and experience in the management of gastric bands, including the use of aseptic technique to access, inflate and deflate them.

I also have experience in treating complex patients with intestinal failure, working as part of an MDT on one of two national intestinal failure units. I therefore have experience of working with a large range of patients, from the pre surgical and new post op patient to the patient requiring intensive care, stoma management, parenteral and enteral nutrition and advice for a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions. This wide and unique experience has allowed me to recognize the individual requirements of each patient, to develop suitable care plans and then use techniques such as motivational interviewing to encourage long term behaviour change.

Most of my spare time is spent with my wife and 3 year old daughter, but I also like to exercise; I go to the gym regularly, go cycling at weekends and go running before work a few times per week. I have completed 2 “Tough Mudder” challenges and plan on doing a few more next year. I also enjoy listening to a wide range of music and doing a bit of DIY.
