MBChB (Sheff) MD (Lon) FRCOG
I am a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, with a private practice at Spire Claremont Hospital. I aim to provide holistic, personalised and evidence-based care to women, to inspire them to be confident about a positive outcome.
My undergraduate medical training was at the University of Sheffield graduating in 1995 with an MBChB. I trained as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, passing the MRCOG exams in 2000 and elevated to FRCOG in 2019. From 2000-2003 I trained in and carried out research on the role of blood clotting disorders in recurrent miscarriage at St Mary’s Hospital, London, the largest recurrent miscarriage clinic in Europe, which led to the award of a MD in 2008 from the University of London (Imperial College).
My advanced qualifications are in menopause care, subfertility and reproductive health, assisted conception, advanced antenatal practice and ultrasound imaging in the management of gynaecological conditions from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health, British Fertility Society and the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists.
I have won several awards and prizes including the prestigious President’s Presenter Award of the Society of Gynecological Investigation (USA) and Harold Malkin Prize (RCOG, UK).
In 2009, I was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at the Jessop Wing, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where I run clinics in recurrent miscarriage, infertility, premature ovarian insufficiency (menopause), late effects, antenatal and obstetric haematology. I am currently the clinical lead for the recurrent miscarriage service.
I have published widely, and these include original research, reviews and book chapters including an acclaimed RCOG textbook, Antenatal Disorders for the MRCOG and Beyond. I have been the medical consultant for a recent book by DK publishing, Be Period Positive, authored by the widely known New York born educator Chella Quint. I peer reviewed the 2017 guidelines on Recurrent Pregnancy Loss for the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.
