I practice as a gastroenterologist and hepatologist as well as a general physician. I undertake all forms of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy including gastroscopy, colonoscopy and ERCP. I am also a JAG accredited trainer.
I completed my gastroenterology training in South Thames during which I undertook a three year MD research project on the use of biomarkers for intestinal inflammation. Since appointment as a Consultant I have regularly published in peer reviewed medical journals and presented abstracts at international meetings. I undertake collaborative research with a number of colleagues in the field of hepatology and gastroenterology and act as a reviewer of submissions to medical journals and sit on medical advisory boards.
In 2005 I established the Sussex Hepatology Network which resulted in a hub-and-spoke provision of liver services across the South Coast from Hastings to Worthing. I am also the Clinical Lead for liver services at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Trust where we have set up a centre of excellence for the management of patients with hepatitis C with the aid of a dedicated team of clinical nurse specialists.
I am able to provide access to Fibroscan as a non-invasive method of assessing liver fibrosis.

I am a keen road cyclist who enjoys cycling to work as well as cycle touring holidays in Europe. I am currently learning to play the piano and have a keen interest in postgraduate education of doctors.
