At Spire Clare Park Hospital we offer a paediatric surgery service for children aged three and over and outpatient consultation appointments from birth for both privately insured and self-funding patients.
We offer paediatric surgery services for children covering a wide range of treatments and operations, all available in the comfort of a local, clean and private hospital environment.
If your child should need medical treatment, our dedicated team of healthcare professionals including specialist paediatric consultants, anaesthetists and nurses will ensure that they receive the very best care.
We are able to provide treatment for both privately insured and self-funding patients, and a GP referral letter is not always necessary.
Our secure, dedicated Children and Young People's ward was named by local children. We asked their views on names for our sea life themed unit and Puffin was the favourite! It has a small play area full of toys and a colouring table to keep them busy.
Parents can relax while their children are kept amused exploring what we've hidden in our toy boxes and have fun trying to spot the hidden puffins around the room. We have a play specialist who helps provide holistic care by coming in to entertain the children, making them feel more comfortable in a hospital environment. When your child leaves hospital, they will receive a gift or activity pack for them to remember an otherwise anxious event with fond memories.
For teenagers, we have two parental controlled 8 inch tablets and the optional use of our fantastic ‘goose neck’ holders. These allow the tablet to attach to the bed or table, freeing both hands for gaming and/or watching movies in comfort.
Everything has been done to ensure that your child has the best experience possible. If your child needs surgery, they can choose from a range of bedding and even pick a gown from a colourful selection during their pre-operative appointment. All this has been designed to make your child feel comfortable during their stay.
Face-to-face pre-assessments allow you and your child to see the area they will cared for in. This is often done with the support of a play therapist for the younger children, who will help explain procedures step-by-step giving your family time to ask questions and really understand what will happen on the day. This often helps relieve anxiety as your child is able to see what their experience in hospital will be like.
For younger children needing surgery, they also get the chance to check out their ‘ride’ to theatre. We have a small electric car which all the children seem to love, making an otherwise anxious journey to the operating theatre fun and exciting!
