Mr Magdy Nawar (MBBCh, MRCOG) is a consultant gynaecologist and obstetrician based at North West London Hospitals NHS Trust, and is the lead for minimal access (keyhole surgery) in the department. He has more than 18 years of experience in obstetrics and gynaecology, and has special skills accreditation in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery for treatment of fibroids, pelvic pain, endometriosis, infertility and menstrual disorders. At Spire Bushey Hospital in Watford, Hertfordshire, Mr Nawar sees patients with pelvic pain, menstrual disorders, subfertility, menopausal problems, fibroids, endometriosis and prolapse.
Mr Nawar has special expertise in the investigation and treatment of heavy and irregular periods. To investigate abnormal bleeding, including post-menopausal bleeding, he performs diagnostic hysteroscopy to visualise the inside of the womb. He offers various treatment options for heavy and irregular periods, including the use of the Mirena System, NovaSure and Thermachoice endometrial ablation. Mr Nawar excels in laparoscopic (keyhole surgery) hysterectomy as an alternative to abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy, which reduces hospital stay, recovery time and scarring. He also performs laparoscopic removal of cysts and ovaries.
For women who develop prolapse, Mr Nawar offers various treatment options including pessaries or vaginal hysterectomy and pelvic floor repair. He also offers hysteroscopic resection of intrauterine fibroids for those wishing to retain their fertility.
