Professional profile

Availability at Spire Hartswood: Wednesday morning.

I am a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood, Essex and Spire Roding Hospital in Redbridge, Essex, offering private urology treatments and surgery in our clean and comfortable private hospitals.

I introduced laparoscopic (keyhole) removal of kidney at King George Hospital in 2005. My practice includes diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, using laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and I specialise in using a robotic camera controller when carrying out surgery for prostate cancer and kidney cancer. In addition I treat male and female urinary incontinence, renal stone disease, benign prostate conditions and erectile dysfunction.

I have performed over 200 prostatectomy (removal of prostate) operations and 350 nephrectomy (removal of kidney) operations.

I have worked as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at King George Hospital in Goodmayes, Essex and Queens Hospital in Romford, Essex (part of Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust) since 2005. I am also Lead Clinician for Governance in Urology at Barking Havering and Redbridge University NHS Trust. I was also co-ordinator for multi-centre PCA3 gene test for diagnosis of prostate cancer from 2007 to 2009.

I qualified at King Edward Memorial Hospital in 1987 and continued postgraduate urological training at the Royal Marsden, Charing Cross, Hammersmith and Royal Free Hospitals in London. This training focused on both complex open and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for urological cancers. I have received advanced training in laparoscopic procedures at Kings College Hospital, London and in Hamburg, Germany. Achievements and Awards: J C Lisboa Gold medal in Surgery MB BS 1987.
