Mollie takes on gruelling 12km obstacle challenge

30 May 2019

Medical Records Clerk at Spire Cheshire Hospital, Mollie Crewe takes on Total Warrior 12K obstacle run on 22nd June 2019 in Leeds.

Mollie is taking part in June’s gruelling 25 obstacle event in hope to raise money for Warrington Athletics Club and Cancer Research UK.

Mollie commented; “I am taking part in Total Warrior 12k to fundraise for two amazing charities that are very close to my heart, Cancer Research UK and Warrington Athletics Club.”

“The past two years have been the toughest years of my life, due to losing my Grandad to lung cancer, tragically losing my cousin Dan and also my Auntie Jane, (who also works at Spire Cheshire Hospital) has just received the devastating news that her cancer has returned after being in remission for five years. Jane is a big part of the team at Spire Cheshire Hospital and we’re all really positive that she has beaten this awful disease once, she can do it again.”

“Warrington Athletics club holds a very special place in my family’s heart. Dan and I were members of Warrington Athletics Club from a young age and competed in many competitions across the UK together. Dan was by far the best athlete I have ever known, he represented, Cheshire School and Warrington, Cheshire, the North West and England in cross country competitions. He then went onto win Cheshire Cross Country Champion, The Northern XC Champion, The National XC Champion and the UK Intercounties Champion. And not to forget the numerous gold Cheshire track medals, 800m, 1500m, track relays, road relays and XC relays. He lived and breathed athletics and loved team events.”

“I started my training at the beginning of March and the closer it gets to June the more excited but nervous I become. Focusing on my training and taking part in Total Warrior is helping me get through the hard times.”

“I feel proud knowing that people are supporting and donating to both of my chosen charities.”
