I am a Consultant Physician in Rheumatology and Acute Medicine. My NHS practice is at Barts Health NHS Trust, Whipps Cross University Hospital, London.
I trained at King's College London and completed my specialist training in both general medicine and rheumatology in the North Thames region. I am actively involved both in undergraduate and postgraduate training, education and clinical research.
I am the head for biological services and research and Chief / Principal Investigator for a large number of clinical trials investigating new biological treatments for autoimmune rheumatic disorders including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis. I was recently awarded two National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) awards, the most prestigious being the NIHR at 10, awarded to only five researchers nationally.
In 2009 I was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Clinical Sciences at St Matthews University and in January 2019, I was awarded the position of Associate UK Dean of St Matthews University. In 2018, I was awarded the Title of Honorary Reader in Investigational Clinical Rheumatology at the William Harvey Research Institute, University of London. My other academic interest includes Sports Medicine. I am a member of The Assessment of SpondyloArthritis International Society (ASAS).
I am actively involved in both rheumatology and acute medicine and have been awarded the BSR Best Practice award for Best Emerging Practice.
I am the clinical lead for the training of overseas medical students and also an international examiner for the MRCP PACES exam and the final year clinical exam at the Barts and London.

I am married with two children. I enjoy sports and travelling. I am also a TV presenter of a live health show and am actively involved in humanitarian work overseas.
