Mr Robert Lee
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
BSc, MBBS, FRCS (Tr&Orth)
Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
I specialise in minimally invasive fusions and decompressions with the emphasis on preservation of the paraspinal musculature and fast rehabilitation. My work as a spinal surgeon at the RNOH routinely involves all areas of the spine, in particular highly complex cases that have been referred from centres around the UK - this includes degenerative, deformity, infection, tumour and trauma work.
I studied medicine at UCL Medical School in London and completed a BSc in Orthopaedics at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore (RNOH), with research into degenerative intervertebral discs. Having trained as a specialist registrar on the North West London rotation (including several years at the RNOH), I completed the Vancouver Combined Neurosurgical and Orthopaedic Spine Fellowship in Canada. In 2010 I was appointed as a consultant spine surgeon in Vancouver, and took up my current post at the RNOH in 2012. I also trained in endoscopic microdiscectomies in Bordeaux, France, and completed certified North American training in kyphoplasty and disc arthroplasty.
During my time in Vancouver, Canada, I developed my expertise in computer navigated spine surgery (O-arm and stealth navigation) and have since performed hundreds of procedures using this novel technology.
Some of my cases have been published in scientific literature, one of which was awarded the Jacques DuParc award at the EFORT 2012 European scientific conference.
