Come along to our free information about bunion treatments with our specialist consultant Mr David Gordon on Thursday 9 …
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Rajiv Bajekal at Spire include:
Back pain and spinal surgery, kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty for osteoporotic fractures, hip and knee surgery, paediatric surgery.
Mr Bajekal has a busy private practice which mirrors his NHS practice. His interests are low back pain and sciatica in which he has had an interest since his early training days. He has developed these further since being appointed as a Consultant in the NHS in 1998.
Mr Bajekal commenced his medical training in Pondicherry in 1979 and went on to the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences to complete an MS in Orthopaedics. His thesis topic was on 'Disc Prolapse' while he was working in the Spinal unit there.
He came to the UK in 1991 and trained at the Royal Free Hospital, RNOH Stanmore, Great Ormond street and other hospitals in North London, during which he completed his MCh from the University of Liverpool.
His practice is to take the patient's views and feelings into consideration while discussing treatment options. He has many non-operative solutions for low back pain and sciatica, but when surgery is required he has a keen interest in minimally invasive surgical options and injections.
He is member of Council for the Orthopaedic section of the Royal Society of Medicine, a trainer for Advanced Trauma and Life Support and an examiner for the FRCS (Orthopaedics and trauma). He is a member of many learned societies and lectures nationally and internationally.
