As part of our longstanding relationship, we are proud to be dedicating our resources to the NHS at this important time. As a result many of our treatments are currently suspended and we are reviewing all planned procedures and consultations. We are making every effort to talk to impacted patients and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

I have been a Consultant Nephrologist, based in Hertfordshire, since 2012. Although I have a particular interest in transplantation I also have a large general nephrology practice based at the Lister in Stevenage and St Albans City Hospital. I particularly specialise in looking after patients with kidney conditions at all stages of chronic kidney disease and acute kidney injury. I am a practical nephrologist, and well versed in procedures, especially kidney biopsies. Working as a nephrologist means that I see a wide range of medical problems and liaise in my day to day work with a large team of specialists. This means that I am also able to see patients with general medical problems.
There are a vast range of kidney problems. My particular skill is in detecting whether a kidney problem exists, whether it is significant and what investigations and subsequently treatments are required (if any). The prospect of kidney disease is often daunting for patients. I am able to add calm and confident reassurance where appropriate and help people to come to the best possible plan of action to best address their problems.
I am the joint lead for transplantation and the lead for nephrology services at St Albans City Hospital, in both of these roles I have contributed to an increase in patient numbers and an improvement in the quality of the service experienced by patients.
I am an educational supervisor for doctors in training. I am actively involved in academic research and I am the local lead investigator for an international randomised clinical trial in the treatment of lupus nephritis.
Special Clinical Interests: Kidney disease, glomerulonephritis, diabetic nephropathy, renovascular disease, proteinuria, nephrotic syndrome, chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, UTI, renal stones, transplantation, lupus, Ig A nephropathy, FSGS, membranous, minimal change disease, haematuria, kidney biopsy, immunosuppression.

In my spare time I enjoy cooking, spending time with my children and watching motorsports (especially formula 1). I love to travel and have been fortunate that my research has taken me around the world, from Vienna to Rio.Back to top
