Professional profile

I have worked as a Speech and Language therapist in a wide variety of settings, with patients who have communication and swallowing difficulties of various aetiologies. I have experience working with patients with head and neck cancer; stroke; dementia; Parkinsons Disease and other progressive neurological conditions; developmental speech and language difficulties and voice problems.

My main area of specialism is adults with acquired dysphagia (swallowing problems), specifically those related to ENT problems and head and neck cancer. I have a particular interest in the instrumental assesment of swallowing difficulties, such as videofluoroscopy (a moving x-ray of the swallow) which I offer at Spire Roding Hospital.

I am a committee member of the Special Interest Group for Adult Acquired Dysphagia (SIGAAD), based in London, which organises local and National study and conferences on the topic.

I am passionate about patient care, and about evidence-based practise in Speech and Language Therapy. I have presented at the UK Swallow Research Group (UKSRG) conference; and examined student Speech and Language Therapists at University College London at their final Viva exams. I have been included speaking about Head and Neck cancer on a teaching DVD for students at City University.
